Call for Papers: Special Issue on the Asian Middle Palaeolithic

Our PI, Prof. Małgorzata Anna Kot, is one of the Guest Editors of a new Special Issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports, “The Asian Middle Palaeolithic: New Perspectives on Technological Variability and Human Adaptation.”

Recent advances in palaeogenetics, palaeoanthropology and palaeoproteomics, together with expanding archaeological research across Asia, are transforming our understanding of the Middle Palaeolithic. Growing evidence reveals remarkable regional diversity in lithic technologies and human adaptations, challenging traditional frameworks developed primarily for Europe and Africa.

This Special Issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports brings together new perspectives on the technological diversity of the Asian Middle Palaeolithic. We welcome contributions on lithic technology, technological organization and reduction strategies, techno-functional, quantitative and computational approaches, experimental archaeology, regional comparisons, and broader interpretations of human behaviour and adaptation.
