INASIA Strengthens Research Collaboration with Uzbekistan

As part of the INASIA ERC Consolidator Grant project, “Were They Modern Humans? The Problem of the Initial Upper Palaeolithic in West Central Asia,” led by Prof. Małgorzata Kot from the University of Warsaw, an amendment to the cooperation agreement with the Institute of Anthropology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan has been signed.

The agreement extends the collaboration between the University of Warsaw and the Institute of Anthropology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, providing a framework for the continuation of joint research activities. Cooperation with the Uzbek research institution is an important part of the INASIA project, which investigates processes related to the emergence and dispersal of modern humans in West Central Asia.

The continuation of this partnership marks another step in strengthening the University of Warsaw’s international scientific cooperation and supports further interdisciplinary research into the prehistory of Central Asia.

Prof. Małgorzata Kot is also the head of the newly established Laboratory for Archaeology, Palaeoecology and Human Evolution (LAPHE) at the Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw (CeNT UW).
