Every layer tells a story

To reach the Pleistocene layers in our excavations, we must first pass through the Holocene layers—and we don’t let that opportunity go to waste.

As part of the INASIA project, we also investigate traces of Holocene human occupation in Central Asian caves. These more recent layers provide valuable insights into long-term patterns of mobility, adaptation, and cultural continuity in the region.

Each excavation becomes a multi-period window into human history.
